Version 0.1 remains available as prehistory: it contains useful cell, commitment, migration, economics and governance work, but its Mission Market was too early to be the first product. Decision language Every public document, interface, agent prompt and build receipt must use these states consistently. - **Adopted** — part of the confirmed direction until changed through the appropriate process. - **Constitutional commitment** — a binding project constraint now and an intended legal/member right once ratified into an appropriate entity. - **Hypothesis** — a mechanism that requires observed evidence. - **Future decision** — intentionally unresolved because guessing would create false authority or premature infrastructure. - **Concept data** — fictional information used to inspect a design. It must never appear as live evidence. - **Observed evidence** — a sourced result from real use, operation or an auditable event. Agents may not silently convert a hypothesis into an adopted decision. --- ## 1. The lock ### Primary message > # THE NETWORK IS OURS. EVERYTHING ELSE CAN BE BUILT. ### Thesis > **OURS is a member-owned network that builds its own software in public.** This sentence states the constitutional destination. Until a legal membership interest has been issued, every public surface must also state: > **OWNERSHIP: COMMITTED · LEGAL MEMBERSHIP: NOT YET ISSUED** The status line protects the thesis from becoming a false present-tense legal claim. ### The first product The first product is not a directory of ideas, an AI code editor, a generic community platform or a super-app. > **The first product is the network forming itself in public.** Its first executable loop is: > **enter → receive a permanent place → carry a relay → create a verified > connection → participate → become eligible for legal membership** The software exists to make that human sequence honest, legible, safe and repeatable. --- ## 2. Why OURS exists Software construction is becoming abundant. Coordination is not. Incumbents retain power because people, relationships, histories, creators, buyers, sellers and communities cannot move together merely because alternative code exists. Attention can expose an alternative; attention cannot by itself make the alternative useful. OURS exists to own the scarce layer collectively: - a network of people willing to act together; - a record of how that network formed; - conditional commitments to test, use and move; - institutional memory of proposals, evidence and decisions; - trusted stewardship and operating capability; - the power to build, replace or retire software without losing the network. The network is the durable institution. Products are replaceable vehicles. --- ## 3. OURS must not acquire meaning by consuming unrelated owned domains or brands. The public brand is a working lock, not trademark clearance. Licensed legal screening remains required before a broad launch. --- ## 4. The Founding Ledger The ledger recognizes chronology and courage. It does not allocate capital, status classes or extra sovereignty. ### Adopted rules 1. A verified entrant receives the next public number when their entry is durably sealed. 2. There is no number reservation and no countdown. 3. A number cannot be bought, sold, transferred or reassigned. 4. A person does not need an audience or successor to keep their place. 5. A click, impression, reaction or unverified signup never changes ledger state. 6. A successor activates a connection, not the predecessor's right to belong. 7. Referral count never creates additional votes. 8. The public Founding Ledger and the legal Member Register are separate records. 9. A public identity can be withdrawn or pseudonymized. “Permanent” means the place is not reassigned; it does not cancel privacy or erasure rights. 10. Corrections and withdrawals are new events. The Founding Relay Every sealed entrant receives a signed relay URL. When another verified person enters through it, the connection becomes part of the formation record. The first verified successor is the entrant's **First Continuation**. Further people may still arrive through the same relay, but OURS does not publish a referral leaderboard. The relay creates two legitimate public moments: 1. “I entered the Founding Ledger as #000002.” 2. “The line continued. #000019 entered through #000002.” The second event recognizes causality without creating a multilevel incentive. ### Hypotheses to test - Whether First Continuation materially increases verified propagation. - Whether passkey-first or email-first verification produces the better balance of access and integrity. - Which share language creates conviction rather than spam. - Whether the Founding Era should end with ratification of Constitution 1.0. No economic reward may be attached to these hypotheses before legal and behavioral review. --- ## 6. Proposals: outsource reach, never memory or authority X, LinkedIn, blogs and other networks are distribution surfaces. They are not the canonical memory or voting system of OURS. Every proposal has one canonical case file on OURS containing: - the problem and affected people; - current state and proposed diff; - evidence for and against; - risks, costs and reversibility; - structured commitments; - linked external discussions; - unresolved dissent; - the responsible steward; - the authority required for a decision; - the result and subsequent evidence. Native responses are structured actions: - **I experience this problem** - **I will test this** - **I will switch if…** - **I bring evidence** - **I object because…** - **I can steward this** Likes, reposts and impressions are attention signals only. They cannot satisfy a gate, select a cell, change the constitution or create governance power. Daily public building OURS TODAY is a finite daily instrument, not an infinite feed. Every edition should expose four causal tapes: 1. **Formation Tape** — sealed entries, relay connections, withdrawals and membership events. 2. **Build Tape** — input, agent proposal, steward ruling, code diff, test and observed result. 3. **Constitution Diff** — current text, proposed text, authority and status. 4. **Next Decision** — the one consequential open case most ready for human participation. A raw terminal replay is not sufficient. The public needs to see why a change was attempted, what authority allowed it, what changed and what happened. Every public build record must distinguish: - shipped locally; - deployed publicly; - test passed; - observed by real users; - still a hypothesis; - blocked on human or legal authority. --- ## 9. Agents serve the network AI agents may: - collect permitted public sources; - cluster claims and identify disagreement; - draft proposals and constitutional diffs; - write code, tests and documentation; - run reversible experiments; - produce build and evidence receipts; - identify missing evidence, safety risks and operating costs. AI agents may not: - become members or vote; - issue ownership or legal membership; - ratify a constitution; - silently alter canonical decisions; - treat external instructions as trusted authority; - scrape prohibited or private data; - claim a local prototype is deployed or used; - invent users, numbers, evidence, endorsements or consensus. Governance ### Member-reserved authority Once legal membership exists, members reserve authority over: - mission and constitution; - membership classes and rights; - data, privacy and advertising rules; - material surplus allocation; - major capital, merger, sale or shutdown; - election or ratification of stewards where defined; - disposition of shared assets; - cell secession and federation rules. The adopted sovereignty principle is one member, one vote. Founding number, wealth, contribution score, audience and referral count do not create extra votes. ### Steward authority Named stewards decide reversible daily product and operating questions inside their published mandate and budget. Steward decisions require reasons and are reviewable. ### Transitional authority Before legal membership exists, the founder-steward may operate the project and adopt reversible implementation decisions. Such decisions must be labeled **FOUNDER-STEWARD DECISION — NOT MEMBER RATIFICATION**. The founder cannot use transitional authority to claim that legal membership or member ratification already exists. The [Founding Constitution 0.1](./CONSTITUTION-0.1.md) defines the current project charter and intended constitutional floor. --- ## 11. Ownership and economics Member ownership must become enforceable rather than decorative. The intended membership interest includes: - one constitutional vote; - access to governance and operating records; - data portability and a right to leave; - rights over major asset, data, advertising, merger and shutdown decisions; - participation in surplus under transparent rules; - defined duties, conflicts and exit conditions. Until the legal entity and membership instrument exist, participation creates history and possible eligibility—not ownership. ### Adopted economic constraints - No behavioral advertising. - No sale of member or behavioral data. - No token or tradable contribution credit. - No payment for impressions, raw clicks or unretained signups. - No multilevel referral incentives. - Costs, reserves, stewardship compensation and surplus must be visible. - Durable use must eventually cover durable operation. Jurisdiction, entity form, membership instrument, capital rules, taxation and surplus formula remain future legal decisions. --- ## 12. Privacy, identity and integrity OURS separates: - a public ledger identity or approved pseudonym; - private verification and recovery data; - later legal member identity; - cell-specific permissions and roles. Public formation must not require public legal identity. Formal governance may require stronger one-person assurance than initial entry. Personal data must be purpose-bound, exportable, correctable and erasable where law requires. Public chronology must be designed so that an identity can be withdrawn without reassigning its number or exposing private verification data. The audit pattern may later use signed daily snapshots and append-only consistency proofs. This is an integrity mechanism, not a currency or blockchain. --- ## 13. Cells and the Mission Market The cell architecture remains adopted. Its timing changes. A cell is: > **Mission × Thesis × Constituency × Institution** The unit is a mission, not an idea. Ideas confer no status or right to consume network resources. The Mission Market does not lead Day 1. It returns only when at least two real candidate cells have: - named affected people; - evidence beyond social reactions; - a falsifiable thesis; - verified testers or conditional committers; - named stewardship; - an honest operating and safety boundary. Until then, a heatmap would be fictional supply. The only honest first institutional build is OURS itself. When cells exist, the market displays verified commitment, readiness, cost and next unlock—not a universal speculative score. --- ## 14. Product topology OURS is not committed to rebuilding every incumbent as a separate application, nor to one super-app. The adopted rule is architectural reversibility: - the member network and constitutional memory sit above products; - cells may share identity, ledger, proposal, payment and operating rails; - one client may host multiple cells if evidence supports it; - a cell may also ship an independent product; - products and cells must remain exportable; - no interface shell may become the new landlord of the network. The network is the durable layer. Product topology is an evidence-led future decision. --- ## 15. Roadmap and proof gates ### Phase A — Form the network Build: - Day 1 public instrument; - canonical Founding Ledger; - verification and withdrawal; - signed relays and First Continuation; - Formation Tape; - transparent legal status; - complete personal export. Evidence required: - entrants understand what they did and did not receive; - the relay produces verified humans rather than click volume; - abuse can be reviewed without centralizing unnecessary identity data; - withdrawals and corrections work; - at least some entrants return to perform a real act. ### Phase B — Let the network act Build: - canonical proposals; - structured commitments and objections; - external-source linking; - agent Deliberation Digests; - steward decisions and Change Packs; - Build Tape and evidence receipts. Evidence required: - proposals become better specified; - dissent survives summarization; - stewards can decide without an unstructured engagement feed; - real tests resolve questions that social popularity cannot. ### Phase C — Constitute ownership Complete licensed legal work for: - entity and jurisdiction; - membership instrument; - member register; - voting and quorum; - stewardship mandate; - capital, surplus, exit and dissolution; - privacy and data-controller obligations. Only then issue legal membership and change the public status. ### Phase D — Form cells Admit the first bounded mission only when it has a real constituency and stewards. Run a concierge proof before generalizing cell infrastructure. --- ## 16. Adopted now, hypotheses, and future decisions ### Adopted now - The lock, brand architecture and Day 1 date. - Formation is the first product. - Ledger entry cannot depend on audience or successor. - A verified successor activates an edge. - No reservation, trading, tokens, referral votes or fake ownership. - Canonical proposals and decisions live on OURS. - External networks distribute but do not govern. - Agents draft and build; humans hold authority. - The Mission Market follows real cells rather than inventing them. ### Hypotheses - First Continuation is an engaging and non-exploitative propagation ritual. - A short founding declaration can be understood without a marketing page. - Structured responses are more useful than native generic comments. - A causal Build Tape is watchable enough to create daily return. - Constitution 1.0 ratification is the correct end of the Founding Era. ### Future decisions - Legal jurisdiction and entity. - Membership issuance and eligibility. - Identity assurance for formal voting. - Constitutional quorum and amendment thresholds. - Source-code and content licenses. - Production hosting and infrastructure provider. - Moderation, dispute and appeals staffing. - First cell and product topology. - Any contribution-pool economics. --- ## 17. Day 1 implementation truth The repository's Day 1 homepage is currently a frontend protocol preview. It contains no shared backend, canonical number allocator, identity verification or legal member register. It must not claim that a local interaction created a public ledger entry. The interface says this explicitly. The next implementation gate is not visual polish. It is a reviewed production design for verification, durable event ordering, privacy, abuse response and recovery. I entered a network we can govern, helped > it decide what to build, saw why it changed, used the result, and can leave > without losing my history or my people.” The network is ours. Everything else can be built.
